RECOMMENDED AFTERCARE.
SECOND SKIN:
Leave the first bandage on for 24 hours.
Under warm running water remove bandage by pulling outwards and folding over itself. Once the water starts to penetrate the bandage as you pull from one side to the other it will be easy to remove.
Wash the skin with anti bacterial scent free soap gently with your finger tips.
Rinse completely under the warm water.
Pat dry with a new clean towel.
When fully dry , apply a second second skin bandage.
Leave second bandage on for up to 5 days.
If any tears develop in the second skin , remove the bandage . Wash the tattoo with anti bacterial soap , pat dry and apply scent free lotion. Keep the tattoo clean by washing it 2 times a day and apply lotion a least once a day for 2 weeks.
PLASTIC WRAP METHOD:
Leave plastic wrap on for 2-12 hours.
When the wrap is removed, wash the tattoo with warm water and anti bacterial scent free soap.
Pat dry the tattoo with a fresh clean towel.
Apply a very small amount of ointment (A&D, Aquaphor, Recovery Glide) by rubbing it into the skin completely. There shouldn’t be a layer on the skin, it should be rubbed INTO the skin . Usually a “pea size” amount will suffice on most tattoos if not less.
Wash the tattoo and apply ointment 2-3 times a day for 3 days. Always make sure to use scent free anti bacterial soap and to rub the ointment in to the skin fully.
After the 3rd day, carry out your normal hygeine routine . For the tattoo stop using ointments and switch to any scent free lotion as needed. You will know when it’s needed as the skin will begin to dry out and become itchy. Flakes will generally begin to appear as will scabs at times. It’s important to NOT PICK at your tattoo during this portion of the healing process. Simply wash your hands and the tattoo, apply a little lotion. Less IS MORE. Let your skin breathe. Once that layer of skin sheds the new layer of skin grows in and the tattoo may appear milky in some areas. This is normal. Give a new tattoo 2-3 weeks for it to fully heal. Sometime longer if you're older.
